How to design a site when most traffic comes from phones.
Google indexes the mobile version first, and most users come from phones. Mobile-first is not optional.
Principles
- Large tap targets
- Content over decoration
- Fast loading on 4G
- Simple forms and autofill
- Readable text without zoom
Designing for desktop first and then "squeezing" it onto mobile is an outdated approach that gives a poor mobile experience.
Start with the smallest screen: if it works there, desktop will be even better.
